Description

The VIPSeal VYS150 lateral saddle is a 45° flexible saddle designed to create a 160mm PVC lateral connection into a larger smooth-wall drainage main. This 45 degree 160mm branch saddle fits compatible host pipes with an outside diameter from 200mm to 400mm, providing a versatile 200-400mm main pipe saddle for use as a smooth wall drainage Y saddle. The angled VYS150 connection introduces the 160mm lateral into the main pipe at 45°, providing a more swept branch arrangement than the corresponding VTS150 90° tee saddle. VIPSeal specifies the VYS150 for compatible smooth PVC, concrete and vitrified clay host pipes.

VIPSeal VYS150 Lateral Saddle

The VIPSeal VYS150 lateral saddle is the genuine manufacturer reference for the 45° DN160 option within VIPSeal’s VTS and VYS flexible saddle range. The VYS150 should not be confused with VYS100. VYS100 uses a 110mm PVC lateral and accepts 160–400mm host pipes, whereas the VIPSeal VYS150 lateral saddle is designed for the larger 160mm PVC lateral and a 200–400mm main-pipe range.

45 Degree 160mm Branch Saddle

The 45 degree 160mm branch saddle is used where a 160mm lateral needs to enter a larger drainage main at an angled Y-style connection. The 45° arrangement provides a more gradual directional transition into the main drainage flow than a right-angle tee connection. This makes the 45 degree 160mm branch saddle a distinct alternative to the VTS150 90° saddle.

Installing a 45 Degree 160mm Branch Saddle

Before installing the 45 degree 160mm branch saddle, confirm the host-pipe outside diameter, material, branch position and lateral size. The host pipe should be prepared in accordance with VIPSeal’s installation guidance and the sealing area kept clean and free from grit or damage. The saddle is positioned over the prepared opening before its stainless-steel straps are secured evenly around the host pipe.

160mm PVC Lateral Connection

The VYS150 is designed specifically to create a 160mm PVC lateral connection. VIPSeal lists the lateral outside diameter as 160mm PVC and the compatible main-pipe outside diameter range as 200–400mm. This 160mm PVC lateral connection arrangement is suitable for larger underground drainage branches, alterations and stormwater applications where a DN160 lateral needs to connect into an existing smooth-wall main.

160mm PVC Lateral Connection Applications

A 160mm PVC lateral connection may be required where a larger branch drain joins an existing underground main. Always confirm the drainage design and required connection angle before choosing between the 45° VYS150 and 90° VTS150.

200-400mm Main Pipe Saddle

The 200-400mm main pipe saddle is selected according to the actual outside diameter of the host pipe. VIPSeal confirms that VYS150 is suitable for compatible smooth-wall mains across this complete diameter range. The 200-400mm main pipe saddle can also be installed on host pipes of differing wall thicknesses, provided the pipe construction and external diameter meet the manufacturer’s requirements.

Choosing a 200-400mm Main Pipe Saddle

Before selecting the 200-400mm main pipe saddle, measure or confirm the actual host-pipe outside diameter. Nominal pipe size alone should not be relied upon where the exact outside diameter is uncertain.

Smooth Wall Drainage Y Saddle

The VYS150 is specifically designed as a smooth wall drainage Y saddle. VIPSeal lists suitable host-pipe materials as smooth-wall PVC, concrete and vitrified clay. The smooth wall drainage Y saddle should not automatically be used on ribbed, corrugated or twinwall pipe because those external pipe profiles require a different saddle design.

Smooth Wall Drainage Y Saddle Materials

The smooth wall drainage Y saddle uses a flexible PVC saddle body with a 6mm thick, 60 Shore EPDM gasket. This arrangement allows the saddle to conform around compatible host pipes while providing the sealing interface around the new branch opening.

VIPSeal specifies a flexible PVC saddle body for the VYS150 together with a 6mm, 60 Shore EPDM sealing gasket. The flexible construction helps the saddle adapt around the outside of the compatible main pipe while the EPDM gasket provides the seal around the prepared lateral opening.

304 Stainless-Steel Clamping Hardware

The VIPSeal VYS150 lateral saddle uses 304 stainless-steel hardware. VIPSeal specifies 304 stainless steel for the shroud and end-clamp components, with straps passing around the outside of the host pipe to secure the saddle.

0.5 Bar Internal Pressure Rating

VIPSeal states that the VTS/VYS flexible saddle range can withstand an internal pressure of 0.5 bar when correctly installed. The manufacturer describes the system as providing an airtight and watertight seal between the larger host pipe and smaller lateral pipe. The saddle should remain within its intended drainage application and should not be treated as a general-purpose high-pressure pipeline fitting.
