Description

The 90 degree lateral saddle clamp is a genuine VIPSeal VTS100 saddle designed to create a 110mm PVC lateral connection into a larger smooth-wall drainage main. This 160-400mm main pipe saddle provides a practical branch connection and is designed specifically as a smooth wall drainage saddle for compatible PVC, concrete and vitrified clay pipes. VIPSeal manufactures the VTS100 for a 90° lateral connection into host pipes with an outside diameter from 160mm to 400mm. The fitting accepts a 110mm PVC lateral and allows a new branch to be created without replacing a complete section of the existing main drainage pipe.

90 Degree Lateral Saddle Clamp

The 90 degree lateral saddle clamp is used where a 110mm drainage branch needs to enter a larger main pipe at right angles. The flexible saddle body is positioned over the prepared opening in the host pipe and secured externally using the supplied stainless-steel clamping arrangement. Using a 90 degree lateral saddle clamp can provide a convenient alternative to cutting out and replacing a full section of the main drainage run with a conventional moulded tee fitting.

VIPSeal VTS100 Saddle

The VIPSeal VTS100 saddle is the genuine manufacturer reference for the 90° tee-style connection within VIPSeal’s VTS and VYS lateral saddle range. The VIPSeal VTS100 saddle should not be confused with the VYS100, which is the corresponding 45° Y-style saddle. Checking the exact manufacturer reference is therefore important when selecting the required branch angle.

110mm PVC Lateral Connection

The VTS100 is specifically designed to form a 110mm PVC lateral connection. VIPSeal specifies a 110mm PVC lateral while allowing the larger host pipe to vary in outside diameter from 160mm to 400mm. This 110mm PVC lateral connection arrangement makes the VTS100 suitable for many underground drainage alterations, extensions and new branch connections.

160-400mm Main Pipe Saddle

The 160-400mm main pipe saddle is selected according to the outside diameter of the host pipe. The smooth wall drainage saddle should not automatically be used on corrugated, ribbed or twinwall pipe. Those pipe constructions require a fitting specifically designed for their external profile.

Installing a 90 Degree Lateral Saddle Clamp

Before fitting the 90 degree lateral saddle clamp, confirm the outside diameter and material of the host pipe and mark the required branch position. The opening should be prepared to the correct size for the lateral connection in accordance with VIPSeal’s installation guidance. Make sure the host pipe surface around the connection is clean and free from dirt, sharp debris or damage that could interfere with the EPDM sealing gasket. Position the saddle evenly over the prepared opening before securing the stainless-steel straps around the main pipe. All fasteners should be tightened evenly and in accordance with the manufacturer’s fitting instructions.

Flexible PVC Saddle Body and EPDM Gasket

VIPSeal manufactures the saddle body from flexible PVC and specifies a 6mm thick, 60 Shore EPDM gasket for the sealing interface. The flexible construction allows the saddle to conform around compatible smooth-wall host pipes while the EPDM gasket helps create the required seal around the new branch opening.

304 Stainless-Steel Clamping Hardware

The VIPSeal VTS100 saddle uses 304 stainless-steel components within its securing arrangement. VIPSeal specifies 304 stainless steel for the shroud and end-clamp hardware. The external straps secure the saddle around the host pipe so the gasket remains correctly positioned against the prepared connection area.

0.5 Bar Internal Pressure Rating

VIPSeal states that the VTS and VYS lateral saddle system can withstand an internal pressure of 0.5 bar when correctly installed. The manufacturer also describes the fitted connection as providing an airtight and watertight seal between the larger host pipe and smaller lateral connection. The product should remain within its intended drainage application and should not be treated as a general-purpose high-pressure pipeline fitting.
