Where to Use the Adjustable Bend

Use this fitting where underground drainage pipework needs a change of direction that cannot easily be achieved with a fixed 15°, 30°, 45° or 87.5° bend. Setting the Adjustable Bend Angle

Plan the pipe route before connecting the fitting. Adjust the bend gradually until the two sockets line up with the required pipe positions. The fitting can be positioned at any suitable angle between 0° and 90°. Therefore, it can replace several fixed fittings in installations where the required angle is unusual or difficult to determine before excavation. Once the angle has been set, check that the fitting remains correctly aligned with both pipe runs and that the required drainage fall is maintained.

Installing the Adjustable Bend

First, inspect both sockets and sealing rings. Make sure the seals sit correctly and remove soil, grit or other loose material that could affect the connection. Cut the connecting pipes square where required. Remove burrs and chamfer any freshly cut plain pipe ends before installation. A suitable chamfer helps the pipe enter the ring seal without displacing or damaging it. Next, apply a suitable silicone drainage lubricant to the prepared pipe ends and seals. Do not use unsuitable oils or general-purpose lubricants on the rubber sealing rings. Align the first pipe squarely with the socket and push the joint together firmly. Repeat the process at the opposite socket while maintaining the selected bend angle.

Adjustable Bend Installation and Support

After connecting both sides, check the complete pipe route again. The adjustable fitting should sit naturally between the two pipe runs without being forced sideways or twisted under load. Provide suitable granular bedding and support around the surrounding drainage pipework. Good support reduces movement and prevents unnecessary strain on the sockets and adjustable sections. Check the drainage fall and all ring-seal joints before backfilling. Keep sharp stones and building debris away from the fitting.

Double Socket Push-Fit Connection

Both ends of the D560 are socketed. Consequently, each side accepts a compatible 110mm plain-ended underground drainage pipe or spigot-ended fitting. The push-fit ring-seal system allows the fitting to be assembled without solvent cement. Silicone drainage lubricant should be used where required to make jointing easier and protect the seals during assembly.
