110mm PVC to PVC Flexible Connector
The
flexible connector provides a straightforward way to join or repair compatible 110mm PVC underground drainage pipes. The VIPSeal VDC115 accepts pipes with an outside diameter of
100–115mm at both ends, making it suitable for connecting compatible 4-inch or 110mm plain-ended drainage pipework. Manufactured from flexible EPDM rubber, the coupling can accommodate small differences in pipe diameter and minor alignment variation. Two stainless-steel tension bands secure the coupling around the pipes to create a reliable connection in low and non-pressure drainage systems.

Where to Use the Flexible Connector
Use this fitting when two compatible plain-ended underground drainage pipes need to be joined without a conventional ring-seal socket. It is particularly useful during drainage repairs and alterations where an existing section of pipe has been cut out. Typical applications include:
- Joining two sections of 110mm PVC drainage pipe
- Repairing a damaged underground drainage run
- Connecting short or cut lengths of pipe
- Drainage alterations and extensions
- Soil, waste and vent pipe connections where suitable
- Domestic, commercial and general groundwork repairs
The VDC115 can also connect compatible pipes made from different materials provided both outside diameters remain within the specified 100–115mm range.
Flexible Connector Size Range
The VIPSeal VDC115 has the same adjustment range at both ends:
- First connection: 100–115mm outside diameter
- Second connection: 100–115mm outside diameter
- Coupling width: 120mm
Always measure the actual outside diameter of both pipes before ordering. Nominal pipe sizes alone do not guarantee compatibility because different pipe materials and systems can have different external dimensions. For standard 110mm PVC underground drainage pipe, the outside diameter normally falls comfortably within the VDC115 adjustment range.
Installing the Flexible Connector
First, expose enough of both pipes to create clean and sound connection surfaces. Cut the pipe ends square where necessary and remove soil, grease, loose material and sharp edges. Loosen the stainless-steel tension bands without removing them from the coupling. Slide the flexible connector onto one pipe and position the second pipe so both ends align correctly. Next, centre the coupling over the joint. Make sure each pipe sits far enough inside the sleeve to provide an even sealing area. Tighten the tension bands evenly using the correct tool and torque specified for the fitting. Keep the coupling straight while tightening and make sure the EPDM sleeve does not fold or twist.
Supporting the Flexible Connector
Support both pipes correctly before completing the installation. The flexible connector should join the pipework rather than support the weight of an unsupported drainage run. Check the drainage fall and alignment before backfilling. In addition, keep sharp stones, rubble and other potentially damaging material away from the rubber coupling. The VDC range does not incorporate the central shear band found on VIPSeal Standard Couplings. Instead of installing a complete socketed pipe section, installers can remove the damaged area and use compatible plain-ended replacement pipe with flexible connectors where appropriate. The EPDM construction allows the coupling to accommodate small dimensional differences between compatible pipes. This makes it useful for existing systems where the exact pipe alignment may not be perfect.
