110mm Underground Drainage End Cap
The
underground drainage end cap provides a simple way to close the plain end of compatible 110mm underground drainage pipe. The Funke PTSP05 is suitable for terminating an unused pipe run, protecting a future connection or closing a section of drainage pipework during installation, repair or alteration work. This terracotta PVC-U fitting is designed for below-ground drainage applications. The cap fits over the compatible plain pipe end and is intended to create a secure termination when installed using the appropriate jointing method.

Where to Use an Underground Drainage End Cap
Use this fitting where a 110mm underground drainage pipe needs to finish without continuing into another fitting or pipe section. It can be particularly useful during drainage alterations, extensions and phased construction work. Typical applications include:

Underground Drainage End Cap Connection
This end cap is intended for use with a compatible 110mm plain-ended underground drainage pipe. Unlike a socket plug, which fits into a ring-seal socket, this style of cap closes the outside of the plain pipe end. Check the pipe and fitting before installation because a plain pipe end and an enlarged drainage socket have different outside diameters. This product should not be confused with a 110mm socket plug designed to insert into a ring-seal fitting.
Preparing the Pipe for the Underground Drainage End Cap
First, cut the pipe square where necessary. Remove burrs, dirt, soil and loose material from the pipe end. The surface that contacts the cap should be clean, dry and free from damage. Inspect the pipe for cracks or distortion before fitting the cap. If the end is damaged, cut the pipe back to a sound section before completing the termination. Dry-fit the cap first to confirm compatibility. Do not permanently bond the fitting until you are satisfied with the position and the overall drainage layout.
Installing the Underground Drainage End Cap
Where the fitting is being permanently solvent bonded, use a suitable PVC-U jointing product that is approved for the pipe and fitting being connected. Follow the jointing-product instructions carefully, including any requirements for cleaning, preparation and curing time. Apply the jointing product evenly to the required surfaces and fit the cap squarely onto the pipe. Avoid excessive adhesive entering the drainage bore. Once fitted, leave the joint undisturbed for the required curing period. Do not subject the fitting to unnecessary movement while the connection sets.
End Cap or Socket Plug?
An end cap and a socket plug perform similar jobs but connect differently. This product is intended to close a compatible plain pipe end. A socket plug instead fits into an existing drainage socket and seals against the ring-seal connection. Check the part of the drainage system that needs closing before ordering. If there is already a female ring-seal socket at the termination point, a dedicated socket plug may be the more suitable fitting.
Maintaining the Underground Drainage Cap
Once installed, inspect the cap before backfilling or covering the drainage run. Make sure it sits squarely and that the surrounding pipe is correctly supported. For a future connection, the capped section should remain identifiable and accessible where practical. Any later alteration should be completed using compatible underground drainage fittings and the appropriate installation method.
