Description
110mm Access Pipe for Underground Drainage
The
access pipe provides a convenient inspection and maintenance point within a 110mm underground drainage system. The Funke KGRE DN/OD 110 fitting includes an attached sealed inspection opening, allowing suitable cleaning, jetting, inspection and testing equipment to be introduced into the drainage pipework when required. Manufactured from plasticiser-free PVC-U, the fitting has a red-brown RAL 8023 underground drainage finish and an overall length of approximately 345mm. Its compact design makes it particularly useful where maintenance access is required but installation space is limited.

Where to Use the Access Pipe
Use this fitting where future access to a 110mm underground drainage run may be required for cleaning, inspection or testing. Funke designed the KGRE access pipe for sewage pipelines on private properties and for chambers with closed channels. Typical applications include:
- Underground foul drainage systems
- Property drainage pipework
- Drainage cleaning access points
- Inspection and CCTV access
- Jetting access
- Drainage testing points
- New drainage installations
- Drainage repairs and alterations
- Confined installation areas
Access Pipe Inspection Opening
The inspection opening includes a sealed cover secured by four dirt-resistant screws. Funke designs the die-cast metal screws to release the cover after a 90° turn, allowing the access point to be opened without removing conventional threaded bolts. This design can make maintenance easier in restricted areas where there is limited room around the drainage pipe. When closed correctly, Funke states that the inspection opening has a pressure rating of
0.5 bar according to DIN EN 1610.
Using the Access Pipe for Drain Maintenance
When drainage maintenance is required, open the inspection cover and introduce suitable cleaning, jetting or inspection equipment carefully into the pipework. The access opening can also be used for drainage testing equipment. Always use equipment that is suitable for the pipe diameter and drainage system. Avoid excessive force when inserting rods, cameras or jetting hoses because incorrect use can damage fittings or joints further along the drainage run.
Installing the 110mm Access Pipe
First, plan the position of the access pipe so the inspection cover remains reachable after the drainage installation has been completed. Check the connecting pipework and make sure all jointing surfaces are clean and free from soil, grit and loose material. Inspect the socket and sealing components before assembly. Where a pipe has been cut on site, make the cut as square as possible. Remove burrs and chamfer the leading edge before making a push-fit drainage connection. Apply a suitable underground drainage lubricant where required. Align the pipe and fitting carefully before pushing the joint together.
Supporting the Access Pipe
Support the fitting and surrounding drainage pipework with suitable bedding. The access pipe should form part of a correctly supported drainage system rather than carrying the weight of unsupported pipes or fittings. Maintain the specified drainage fall throughout the installation. In addition, position the access cover so future maintenance equipment can be introduced without obstruction. Inspect all connections before backfilling and keep sharp stones, rubble and other potentially damaging material away from the fitting.
Access Dimensions and Construction
Funke publishes the following technical data for the DN/OD 110 KGRE access pipe:
- Nominal diameter: DN/OD 110
- Overall length: 345mm
- Wall thickness: 3.2mm
- Material: PVC-U, plasticiser-free
- Colour: RAL 8023 red-brown
- Closed inspection-opening pressure rating: 0.5 bar
The compact dimensions and quarter-turn inspection cover make the fitting suitable for installations where access space is restricted.
Maintaining the Pipe
Keep the inspection cover accessible after the surrounding ground or chamber has been completed. Do not permanently obstruct the opening with structures or materials that would prevent future maintenance. Before opening the access pipe, make sure the drainage system is in a suitable condition for maintenance. After cleaning or inspection work, clean the cover and sealing area before closing the access opening securely.
