Description
110mm Y Branch for Underground Drainage
The
Y branch creates a 45° junction within compatible 110mm underground drainage systems. The Kayflow UG38 features three push-fit ring-seal sockets, allowing plain-ended 110mm drainage pipes or compatible spigot-ended fittings to connect into all three openings. Kayflow officially describes the UG38 as a 45° Junction (Triple Socket). Its swept Y-shaped layout allows an additional drainage run to join the main pipework at a gradual 45° angle, helping maintain a smooth direction of flow through the system.

Where to Use the Y Branch
Use this fitting where an additional 110mm underground drainage run needs to join a main drainage line at approximately 45°. The angled branch allows incoming flow to enter the main run more gradually than a square 90° junction. Typical applications include:
- Joining underground foul drainage runs
- Surface water drainage systems
- Domestic underground drainage
- New drainage installations
- Drainage extensions
- Drainage repairs and alterations
- Connecting additional pipe runs
- Inspection chamber and drainage layouts
45° Swept Y Branch Design
The 45° branch creates a gradual Y-shaped junction between the incoming branch and the main drainage run. This provides a smoother change in direction than a sharper square junction. Correct orientation is important. Position the branch so incoming wastewater or surface water follows the intended downstream direction of flow.
Triple Socket Y Branch Connections
The UG38 has three socketed ends. Each socket accepts compatible plain-ended 110mm underground drainage pipe or a suitable spigot-ended fitting. This triple socket configuration differs from Kayflow’s UG47 45° junction, which is the double socket version. The additional socket can make the UG38 particularly useful when joining plain pipe sections together without requiring an additional coupler at one of the connections.
Installing the Y Branch
Before installation, establish the required drainage route, direction of flow and pipe fall. Make sure any pipe cut on site is cut square and remove sharp burrs from the end. Inspect all three socket seals and make sure they are clean and correctly seated. Remove soil, grit and other debris before making the joints. Apply a suitable underground drainage lubricant where required. Align each pipe squarely with its socket and push the joint together without forcing the pipe sideways.
Supporting the Y Branch
Provide suitable bedding beneath the junction and connected pipework. The Y branch should form part of a correctly supported underground drainage system rather than carrying the weight of unsupported pipes. Maintain the required drainage gradient through the main run and incoming branch. Check all three connections before completing the surrounding backfill.
Y Branch Material and Ring Seals
The Kayflow UG38 is manufactured from PVC-U and uses captive push-fit ring-seal joints. Its lightweight construction makes the fitting straightforward to handle while providing a durable connection within compatible underground drainage systems. The smooth internal surfaces help maintain an unobstructed flow path through the junction.
UG38 and BUG38 Y Codes
UG38 is Kayflow’s individual 45° triple socket junction and is the correct manufacturer code when selling one fitting.
BUG38 is Kayflow’s bulk-pack reference for 15 fittings and should not be used as the individual product MPN.
UG38 or UG47 Branch?
Kayflow offers two 110mm 45° junction configurations. The
UG38 has three socketed connections, while the
UG47 is the double socket version. Check the surrounding drainage pipework before ordering and select the socket arrangement required for the installation.
