The
single socket pipe provides a convenient 1-metre length for 110mm underground drainage installations. It is ideal for short pipe runs, repairs, alterations and smaller groundwork projects where a longer drainage pipe would create unnecessary waste. This Competa Drainage pipe has an integral ring-seal socket at one end and a plain spigot at the other. Therefore, the socket can receive a compatible 110mm plain-ended pipe or fitting, while the opposite end connects into another compatible underground drainage socket.

Benefits of a 1-Metre Drainage Pipe

Connecting the Single Socket Pipe
First, inspect the pipe, socket and sealing ring. Make sure the seal sits correctly and remains free from damage, soil and grit. Next, clean the plain pipe end and the inside of the receiving socket. Remove dirt, swarf and other loose material. Apply a suitable silicone drainage lubricant to the prepared pipe end and sealing ring where required. Align the pipe squarely with the socket. Then push the joint together firmly without forcing the pipe at an angle. Correct alignment helps protect the sealing ring and reduces unnecessary strain on the connection. Check that the connected pipework remains straight and maintains the required drainage fall. Do not use the socket joint to support the weight of unsupported pipework.
Cutting the 110mm Drainage Pipe
The pipe can be shortened further when required. Mark the required measurement and cut the plain end as square as possible with a suitable pipe saw or cutting tool. After cutting, remove burrs and loose swarf. Chamfer the newly cut edge before inserting it into a ring-seal socket. A smooth chamfer helps the pipe enter the fitting without displacing or damaging the sealing ring. Do not cut through the integral socket when it is required for the installation. Plan the complete drainage layout before shortening the pipe.
Installing Underground Drainage Pipework
Prepare suitable bedding and maintain the specified drainage fall throughout the pipe run. Support the pipe evenly so the socket and connected fittings do not carry unnecessary loads.
