bottle gully grid is a replacement round plastic grid for a compatible standard underground drainage bottle gully. Measuring approximately
179mm in diameter, it allows rainwater and suitable waste water to enter the gully while helping to prevent larger leaves, stones and general debris from entering the drainage system. This black Competa Drainage replacement grid is ideal when the original gully grid has become cracked, damaged or lost but the main bottle gully remains in usable condition. Replacing the grid alone can provide a simple and economical repair without disturbing the underground drainage fitting.

Where to Use the Bottle Gully Grid
Use this grid as a replacement top for a compatible standard bottle gully. Bottle gullies are commonly installed where rainwater, surface water or suitable external waste discharge needs to enter an underground drainage system. Typical locations include areas beneath rainwater downpipes, beside external waste outlets, around patios and yards, and at other outside drainage collection points. The open grid allows water to enter while helping to keep larger objects away from the drainage system below.

A damaged or missing grid can leave the top of a bottle gully exposed to leaves, stones, soil and other loose material. If the gully body remains sound, replacing the grid can restore the protective inlet without replacing the complete bottle gully. This grid measures approximately
179mm in diameter. Always check the diameter and design of the existing gully before ordering because different manufacturers can use different grid dimensions even when the outlet connects to a nominal 110mm drainage system.
Fitting the Bottle Gully Grid
First, remove the damaged or existing grid. Clear leaves, soil and other loose debris from the top of the gully. Next, inspect the supporting edge around the opening. Check for cracks, distortion or other damage that could prevent the replacement grid from sitting correctly. Position the new bottle gully grid evenly over the opening. It should sit securely without excessive movement or rocking. Do not force an incorrectly sized grid into the gully because this could damage either component. After fitting, make sure the grid can still be removed when cleaning or drainage maintenance is required.
Maintaining the Bottle Gully Grid
Check the grid regularly and remove leaves, moss, soil and other material that could restrict water flow. This is especially important during autumn or where the gully sits close to trees and vegetation. Lift the grid when required and clean any debris that has collected inside the top of the gully. Once the area is clear, replace the grid securely. Regular cleaning helps water enter the drainage system freely and reduces the amount of larger debris reaching the gully below.
Bottle Gully Grid and Drainage Access
Keep the grid accessible after paving, landscaping or other surrounding work has been completed. Avoid permanently covering the gully because future access may be required for inspection or cleaning.
