Description
Rectangular Hopper Grid for Underground Drainage
The
rectangular hopper grid provides a replacement or spare cover for a compatible 110mm underground drainage rectangular hopper. The open grid design allows rainwater and suitable waste water to enter the hopper while helping to stop larger leaves, stones and general debris from passing directly into the drainage system. This black Competa Drainage grid is useful when an existing hopper grid has been lost, cracked or damaged but the main hopper body remains serviceable. Replacing only the grid can avoid the need to replace the complete hopper assembly.

Where to Use the Rectangular Hopper Grid
Use this grid as a replacement on a compatible rectangular hopper used with underground drainage systems. Rectangular hoppers are commonly positioned where rainwater, surface water or suitable waste discharge needs to enter below-ground drainage pipework. Typical locations can include areas beneath rainwater downpipes, external waste outlets, patios, yards and other drainage collection points. The grid provides an open surface for water entry while helping keep larger objects away from the drain below.
Rectangular Hopper Grid for Replacement Repairs
A damaged or missing hopper grid can leave the drainage opening exposed to leaves, stones and other debris. If the hopper body itself remains in good condition, fitting a replacement grid can restore the protective top without replacing the complete drainage fitting. Before ordering, check the shape and dimensions of the existing hopper opening. Different underground drainage manufacturers can use different hopper and grid dimensions even when the outlet connection is nominally 110mm.
Fitting the Rectangular Hopper Grid
First, remove the damaged grid and clear loose material from the hopper opening. Check the supporting edges for cracks, distortion or damage that could prevent the replacement grid from sitting correctly. Position the new grid squarely into the hopper top. It should sit evenly and remain stable without rocking excessively. Do not force an incompatible grid into the opening because this could damage either the grid or hopper body. Once installed, make sure the grid can still be removed for future cleaning and maintenance.
Maintaining the Rectangular Hopper Grid
Check the grid periodically and remove leaves, soil and other debris that could restrict water flow. This is particularly important during autumn or in areas close to trees and vegetation. Lift the grid when necessary and clean the inside of the hopper before replacing it securely. Regular cleaning helps maintain an open route into the underground drainage system and reduces the risk of debris building up around the inlet.
Rectangular Grid and Drainage Maintenance
The hopper grid should form part of a drainage system that remains accessible for inspection and maintenance. Keeping the grid and hopper clear can help water enter the drainage system freely and makes future cleaning easier.
