450mm manhole cover and frame provides both the removable lid and the supporting frame required at the top of the inspection chamber. The frame should be installed level and properly supported so that loading is transferred into the surrounding construction rather than directly onto the plastic chamber riser.

An
inspection chamber cover and frame allows access to underground drainage junctions for inspection, rodding, cleaning and maintenance while closing the chamber during normal use. Compatible Kayflow Inspection Chamber System
The cover is designed for use with compatible Kayflow 450mm chamber components including chamber bases, risers and riser seals. Kayflow’s standard 450mm chamber configuration uses a main inlet, two 90° entries, two 45° entries and blanking plugs, with 110mm sockets on the standard base.
Installing the 450mm Square Manhole Cover
Set the chamber to the required finished level before installing the
450mm square manhole cover. The frame should remain level and be supported by the surrounding installation rather than relying solely on the chamber riser. Before completing paving or backfill, make sure the cover can be removed freely and that the chamber remains accessible for future inspection.
Load Rating – Check Before Installation
The required cover loading must be suitable for the location in which the chamber is installed. Do not assume that every 450mm square inspection chamber cover has the same load rating. There is conflicting Kayflow literature for UG2001/BUG2001, so the load marking on the physical cover or current manufacturer confirmation should be checked before installing it in an area subject to vehicle loading.
