The
Y branch creates a 45° junction within compatible 110mm underground drainage systems. The Kayflow UG47 is the manufacturer’s double socket 45° junction, designed to bring a branch drainage run into the main pipework while maintaining a gradual direction of flow. 45° Junction (Double Socket). It is also commonly referred to as a 45° Y branch or drainage branch, making it suitable for foul water, surface water and general below-ground drainage installations.

Where to Use the Y Branch
Use this fitting when an additional 110mm drainage run needs to join a main underground pipe at a 45° angle. The angled entry provides a more gradual route into the main drain than a square 90° junction. Typical applications include:

45° Y Branch Connection
The 45° branch angle allows incoming drainage to enter the main run gradually. Correct orientation is important so flow from the branch follows the intended downstream direction of the drainage system. Before installation, establish the direction of flow and position the junction accordingly. Do not install the branch facing against the intended flow direction.
Double Socket Y Branch
The UG47 is Kayflow’s
double socket version of the 45° junction. This should not be confused with the UG38, which is Kayflow’s 45°
triple socket junction. Check the required socket arrangement before ordering, particularly when modifying existing underground drainage where surrounding pipes and fittings may already determine which junction configuration is required.
Installing the Y Branch
Check the drainage route, required fall and direction of flow before making the connections. Where drainage pipe is cut on site, make the cut square and remove sharp burrs from the pipe end. Inspect the push-fit sockets and sealing components before installation. Remove soil, grit and other debris that could interfere with the joint. Apply a suitable underground drainage lubricant where required and align the pipe squarely before pushing the connection together. Avoid forcing the pipe sideways into a socket as this can disturb the sealing ring.
Supporting the Y Branch
Provide suitable bedding beneath the junction and connected drainage pipework. The Y branch should form part of a correctly supported underground drainage system rather than carrying the weight of unsupported pipes. Maintain the required drainage fall through both the main run and incoming branch. Check the alignment and connections before completing the surrounding backfill.
UG47 and BUG47 Y Codes
UG47 is Kayflow’s individual 110mm 45° double socket junction and is the correct manufacturer code when selling one fitting.
BUG47 is Kayflow’s bulk-pack reference for 15 of the same fitting and should not be used as the individual product MPN.
Y or Triple Socket Junction?
Kayflow offers two different 45° 110mm junction configurations. The
UG47 is the double socket version, while the
