Where to Use the Oval Rodding Point
Install this fitting at a suitable access position within a 110mm underground drainage run. A rodding point allows drainage rods or suitable inspection equipment to enter the pipework without dismantling surrounding fittings or excavating a larger section of the drain. Typical locations can include the end of a drainage run, near a change of direction or at another accessible position identified within the drainage design. Always make sure the access point remains reachable after paving, landscaping or other finishing work has been completed.
45° Oval Rodding Point Access
The 45° entry helps guide drainage rods into the underground pipework. This angled approach can make future cleaning and blockage clearance easier than attempting to introduce rods through a vertical opening. When using the access point, introduce drainage rods carefully and avoid excessive force. Incorrect rodding techniques can damage fittings or joints further along the drainage run.
Oval Rodding Point Spigot Connection
The ARP100P has a plain spigot connection. Therefore, the lower section fits into a compatible 110mm ring-seal socket on an underground drainage pipe, coupler or suitable fitting. Before installation, inspect the receiving socket and sealing ring. Remove soil, grit and other loose material that could affect the connection. Apply a suitable underground drainage lubricant where required. Align the spigot squarely with the socket and push the joint together without forcing the fitting at an angle.
Installing the Oval Rodding Point
First, select a position that will remain accessible for future maintenance. Check the surrounding pipework and confirm the required drainage alignment and fall before making the final connection. Next, clean the spigot, receiving socket and sealing ring. Make sure the ring seal remains correctly seated inside the socket. Push the fitting into the socket and check that it sits correctly. Support the surrounding underground pipework with suitable bedding so the rodding point is not carrying the weight of unsupported pipes or fittings.
Non-Sealed Alloy Rodding Point
This product is the
non-sealed oval alloy version. It should not be confused with sealed aluminium rodding eyes or plastic rodding points that use a sealed access-cover design. Check the requirements of the drainage installation before ordering. Where a specifically sealed access point is required, choose a suitable sealed rodding point instead.
Maintaining the Rodding Point
Keep the access area free from soil, leaves and other debris so the rodding point remains usable when maintenance is required. Inspect the fitting periodically where practical. If rodding or drainage inspection is required, use suitable equipment and clean the access point again when the work is complete.
