110mm Oval Rodding Point for Underground Drainage
The
oval rodding point provides convenient access to a 110mm underground drainage system for inspection, cleaning and blockage clearance. The FloPlast D881 features a 45° access angle, sealed oval cover and spigot-ended connection for fitting into a compatible 110mm drainage socket. This fitting is manufactured from durable PVC-U and forms part of a below-ground gravity drainage system. It is suitable for foul water and surface water drainage applications where future access to the pipework needs to remain available.

Where to Use an Oval Rodding Point
Install this fitting at a suitable access position within the drainage layout. For example, a rodding point can provide access near a change of direction, at the end of a drainage run or at another location where future cleaning and inspection may be required. The 45° angle helps guide drainage rods into the pipework. As a result, installers can access the drain without dismantling surrounding fittings or excavating the complete drainage run.
Spigot-Ended D881 Connection
The D881 has a plain spigot connection rather than an integral socket. Therefore, the lower end fits into a compatible 110mm ring-seal socket on a drainage pipe, coupler or fitting. If a socket-ended version is required instead, the corresponding FloPlast product is the D882. Check the surrounding pipework before ordering so the correct connection type is selected.
Installing the 110mm Rodding Point
First, choose a position that will remain accessible after the drainage system has been completed. Do not permanently cover the access lid with a structure or material that prevents future maintenance. Next, inspect the receiving 110mm socket and sealing ring. Remove grit, mud and other loose material from the seal and spigot. Apply a suitable drainage lubricant where required. Align the spigot carefully with the socket and push the joint together without forcing it at an angle. Then support the surrounding pipework correctly so movement does not place unnecessary strain on the fitting.
Sealed Access Cover and Loading
The rodding point includes a sealed access cover to close the drainage system when maintenance is not taking place. Always refit the cover securely after inspection or rodding work. FloPlast states that the rodding point is suitable for loading up to
10kN (approximately 1 tonne) when the cover frame is correctly supported by a concrete plinth. The supporting structure is therefore an important part of any installation where loads may pass over the fitting.
Maintaining the Drainage System
When access is required, remove the cover and introduce suitable drainage rods or inspection equipment carefully through the angled opening. Avoid excessive force that could damage the fitting or connected pipework. Once the maintenance work is complete, clean the access area and refit the sealed cover.
