The
Kayflow UG1001 round manhole cover is a genuine cover and frame designed for compatible Kayflow 450mm inspection chamber systems. This
450mm round manhole cover provides removable access to the chamber below for inspection, cleaning and rodding while securely closing the drainage chamber during normal use. Supplied as a complete
450mm manhole cover and frame, the UG1001 has a manufacturer-rated loading of 1.5 tonnes / 15kN. This
15kN inspection chamber cover is manufactured from polypropylene and forms part of Kayflow’s complete inspection chamber system. The
Kayflow 450mm chamber cover can be used with compatible 450mm bases, risers and sealing components.
Kayflow UG1001 Round Manhole Cover
The
Kayflow UG1001 round manhole cover is Kayflow’s round access-cover option for its 450mm inspection chamber range. The removable cover allows access to the underground drainage chamber when pipework needs to be inspected, cleaned or rodded without requiring the surrounding installation to be disturbed.

The
450mm round manhole cover is designed specifically for compatible Kayflow 450mm inspection chambers. Its round format provides a straightforward finish at the top of the chamber and can be used in suitable gardens, paths, landscaped areas and other locations where the manufacturer’s 15kN loading is appropriate.
450mm Manhole Cover and Frame
The complete
450mm manhole cover and frame includes the removable access cover together with its supporting frame. The frame should be installed level and correctly supported within the surrounding construction so that loads are transferred appropriately rather than being carried directly by the plastic inspection chamber riser.
15kN Inspection Chamber Cover
The
15kN inspection chamber cover is officially rated by Kayflow at 1.5 tonnes / 15kN. The cover should only be used where this load rating is suitable for the installation. Check the expected pedestrian or traffic loading before fitting and do not use the cover in an area requiring a higher-rated access cover.

Compatible 450mm Inspection Chamber System
The UG1001 is designed to complete a compatible Kayflow 450mm inspection chamber installation. Compatible chamber components include:
- UG1005 – 450mm chamber base for 110mm drainage
- UG1014 – 450mm chamber base with 160mm main run
- UG1003 – 450mm inspection chamber riser
- UG1007 – 450mm riser sealing ring
- UG1001 – round 15kN cover and frame
Because the cover fits the 450mm chamber system, it can be used above compatible chamber bases regardless of whether the base below is configured primarily for 110mm or 160mm drainage.
Inspection and Rodding Access
A correctly installed inspection chamber provides access to underground drainage junctions so the system can be checked and maintained without unnecessary excavation. The removable

Installing the 450mm Manhole Cover and Frame
Before installing the
450mm manhole cover and frame, bring the chamber riser up to the correct height relative to the finished ground or paving level. The frame should be level, securely supported and integrated correctly with the surrounding surface construction. Do not rely solely on the plastic chamber riser to support surface loading from the cover and frame.
Choosing the Correct Cover Load Rating
The UG1001 is a
15kN inspection chamber cover, equivalent to Kayflow’s stated 1.5 tonne loading. Always assess the location before installation. If the expected loading exceeds the manufacturer’s 15kN rating, a suitably higher-rated cover system should be selected instead. Do not select a chamber cover based on size alone; both compatibility and load rating must be suitable for the installation.
Maximum 450mm Chamber Depth
Kayflow specifies a maximum installation depth of 1200mm for its 450mm inspection chamber system when installed in accordance with its guidance. Plan the chamber base depth, number of risers and finished cover level before completing the surrounding groundworks.
