The
square hopper grid is a replacement plastic grid for a compatible square underground drainage hopper. Measuring approximately
152 x 152mm, it provides an open surface that allows rainwater and suitable waste water to enter the hopper while helping to prevent larger leaves, stones and general debris from passing directly into the drainage system. This Competa Drainage replacement grid is useful when an existing hopper grid has become damaged, cracked or lost but the main hopper body remains serviceable. Replacing only the grid can provide a simple and economical alternative to replacing the complete hopper assembly.

Where to Use the Square Hopper Grid
Use this grid as a replacement top for a compatible square hopper within an underground drainage installation. Square hoppers are commonly positioned where rainwater, surface water or suitable external waste discharge needs to enter below-ground drainage pipework. Typical locations can include areas beneath rainwater downpipes, around yards and patios, beside external waste outlets and at other drainage collection points. The open grid allows water into the hopper while helping to stop larger objects from entering the drain below.
152 x 152mm Square Hopper Grid Replacement
A missing or damaged hopper grid can leave an underground drainage opening exposed to leaves, stones and other loose material. Where the existing hopper body remains in good condition, replacing the grid can restore the protective inlet without disturbing the underground fitting. The replacement grid measures approximately
152mm x 152mm. However, always check the dimensions and shape of the existing hopper before ordering. Different drainage manufacturers can use slightly different grid sizes even when the hopper connects to a nominal 110mm underground drainage system.
Fitting the Square Hopper Grid
First, remove the old or damaged grid and clear loose debris from the top of the hopper. Check the supporting edges for cracks, distortion or damage that could prevent the replacement grid from sitting correctly. Next, position the new grid squarely over the hopper opening. It should sit evenly and remain stable without excessive movement. Do not force an incorrectly sized grid into the hopper because this could damage the replacement grid or the existing hopper body. After fitting, make sure the grid can still be removed when cleaning or drainage maintenance is required.
Maintaining the Square Hopper Grid
Check the grid periodically and remove leaves, soil, moss and other debris that could restrict the flow of water into the hopper. Regular maintenance is particularly important during autumn or where the drainage point sits close to trees and vegetation. Lift the grid when necessary and remove any material that has collected inside the hopper. Once clean, replace the grid securely and check that it sits correctly around the full opening.
Square Grid and Drainage Maintenance
Keeping the hopper and grid accessible makes future drainage cleaning and inspection easier. Avoid permanently covering the grid with paving, landscaping materials or other structures that would prevent it from being removed.
