110mm Square Rodding Point for Underground Drainage

The square rodding point provides convenient access to a 110mm underground drainage system for inspection, cleaning and blockage clearance. The Kayflow UG1012 features a black square top with a hinged access lid and a downward-facing 110mm spigot for connection into a compatible underground drainage socket. The lightweight, impact-resistant construction makes the fitting suitable for domestic, commercial and general groundwork installations. It can form part of a compatible 110mm gravity drainage system carrying foul water or surface water.

Where to Install a Square Rodding Point

Install this fitting at a suitable location where future access to the underground drainage system may be required. A rodding point can make it easier to inspect the pipework or clear a blockage without excavating or dismantling a larger section of the drain. Typical positions include the end of a drainage run, near a change of direction or at another accessible point identified within the drainage design. Always make sure the lid remains accessible after paving, landscaping or other finishing work.

Square Rodding Point Spigot Connection

The UG1012 has a downward-facing plain spigot rather than an integral ring-seal socket. Therefore, the fitting connects into a compatible 110mm socket on an underground drainage pipe, coupler or other suitable fitting. Before installation, inspect the receiving socket and sealing ring. Remove dirt, grit or damaged material that could affect the joint.

Installing the 110mm Square Rodding Point

First, choose an accessible position within the drainage layout. Check that the surrounding pipework has the correct alignment and fall before fitting the rodding point. Clean the spigot, socket and sealing ring. Apply a suitable silicone drainage lubricant where required. Next, align the spigot squarely with the receiving socket and push the connection together without forcing it at an angle. Support the surrounding pipework with suitable bedding. The rodding point should not carry the weight of unsupported drainage pipes or fittings.

Using the Square Rodding Access Lid

The square top includes a hinged lid secured with screws. When drainage access is required, open the lid and introduce suitable inspection equipment or drainage rods carefully into the pipework. Avoid using unnecessary force while rodding because this could damage fittings or joints elsewhere in the drainage run. Once maintenance is complete, clean the access area and secure the lid correctly.
